Project Overview
Glimmer was a digital service concept developed for the startup Glimmer, now Omaia. The goal was to explore how a pregnancy app could better support mental wellbeing throughout pregnancy, combining emotional support, guidance and a sense of connection.
Problems & Purpose
Pregnancy apps often focus heavily on physical development and practical information, while emotional wellbeing receives less attention. Our design purpose was to:
- support users’ mental health throughout pregnancy
- make emotional wellbeing easier to understand and discuss
- create a safe and encouraging digital experience
- offer personalised guidance without overwhelming the user
My role as project lead
As project manager, I planned and coordinated the work throughout the five-week course while also contributing directly to the design process. My work included:
- User research and data analysis
- Insight synthesis and concept development
- Wireframing and interaction design
- Prototyping and visual structure
Research & Insights
Through our research, we found that users wanted emotional support to feel approachable, personal and integrated into everyday life. Key insights included:
- Users need reassurance without judgement
- Mental health content should feel supportive rather than clinical
- Information needs to be easy to navigate and available at the right moment
- Personalisation can help users feel seen and understood
Design Process
- Research and analysis
- Sketching and concept exploration
- Wireframing and interaction design
- Prototyping and refinement
Early sketches
Early concept for menu bar (main themes and centered AI-bot)
Concept exploration: Users navigate between themed worlds, such as islands or planets, with their personal space represented as their own island or planet.

Prototype
The final prototype brings together guided content, personal reflection and approachable mental health support in a coherent pregnancy experience.
Reflection
The project developed my skills in:
- leading and coordinating a design team
- turning research findings into clear design decisions
- balancing emotional sensitivity with usability
- developing a concept through iterative prototyping
The project strengthened my UX-driven design approach and showed how thoughtful digital experiences can support people during emotionally complex life events.
