Project Overview
This project was a visual design assignment for the band Halfpace, where I created an EP cover and logo. The goal was to develop a strong visual identity that reflects the band’s sound and emotional tone, and that works across both digital and printed formats.
Brief & Objectives
The band requested a visual expression that:
- reflects the mood and atmosphere of their music
- feels personal and raw rather than polished
- functions as a recognizable visual identity
My objective was to translate the emotional qualities of the music into a visual concept that strengthens the band’s overall brand experience.
My Role
I was responsible for the full creative process, including:
- Concept development
- Illustration
- Logo design
- Final layout for the EP cover
Process
The project began with conversations with the band and listening closely to their music to understand its tone, rhythm, and emotional direction. Based on these insights, I developed sketches and visual concepts that were gradually refined into a cohesive final design.
- Research & inspiration – music analysis, mood exploration, visual references
- Sketching & ideation – exploring form, symbolism, and expression
- Development – digital refinement and illustration work
- Final delivery – completed EP cover and logo
Design Decisions
The illustration is built around an organic and slightly raw visual language to mirror the emotional character of the music. Color choices, line quality, and composition were carefully selected to support the sound rather than compete with it.
Tools
Adobe Photoshop
Fine pen & acrylics on paper
Outcome
The final result was an EP cover and logo used in the band’s release and promotional material. The visual identity helped create a more cohesive and distinctive presence around the music release.
Reflection
This project strengthened my ability to:
- collaborate closely with clients in a creative context
- translate abstract emotional input (music) into visual form
- manage a creative project from concept to final delivery
It demonstrates how I combine artistic expression with a structured design process, a skill set I also apply in digital and interactive design projects.
